Plans by the Ministry of Justice to streamline the process of making a low cost road traffic accident claim, which were announced last September have come to fruition. New regulations will be coming into force at the end of April with the aim of speeding up the process. For those victims who would normally have to wait several months to find out the outcome of their accident claim, this is fantastic news. In order to allow victims to move on from their injury and the accident, compensation will now be awarded as quickly as possible.

Under the new system, the road traffic accident claim payout is made to the victim as early as possible. Previously, victims often struggled financially because their injuries forced them to miss work. Now, under the new rules, they will receive the compensation to which they’re entitled more quickly, eliminating financial strain.

Because the new system is simpler, the victim is placed under less stress. Insurers and solicitors will now be able to take advantage of a web portal permitting the quick and safe transfer of information about the claim.

Before the simplification, just establishing liability could take months. However, the new regulations give fixed time limits for establishing liability and compensation. As a result a claim can now be approved within just one month of liability being established.

This new procedure will apply to any road traffic accident claim with a value of anywhere between one and ten thousand pounds. It is the belief of the Ministry of Justice that the new fixed cost structure and rigid deadlines that will accompany it will be beneficial to victims. This is because the reduced timescale and simplified process would cause significantly less stress for the victim, who is already dealing with a very traumatic time.
